川崎市立上丸子小学校
新たな正門の位置する北側前面道路は、住宅地に面した歩道のない幅員4ｍ程度の狭い道であり児童の登下校において安全とは言い難い環境であった。この学校と地域との接点となる前面道路に沿って児童の安全な通学動線を確保するとともに、学校と地域が共に児童を育む場として、地域住民と触れ合うきっかけとなるコミュニケーションスペースの整備を目指した。常落混交の木立を抜けるジグザグの通路は、常に緑が目に入る線形を意識し、子供たちが年間を通じて季節を敏感に感じ取れるように配慮した。また木立の足元にはコミュニケーションを誘発する装置として、地域ボランティアにより管理される6か所の花壇を設けた。快適な環境として生まれ変わったこの場所が、永く地域と学校を繋ぐ場であり続けることを願う。

Kamimaruko Elementary School
The North Street where the new main entrance is built used to be a narrow 4m wide street that was not safe for children. We created a space of node where children could safely and easily communicate with the local community and to commute safely by securing a safe path. For the zig-zag path that runs through the grove, we took into consideration a linear visual that is always green and reminded children of every seasons. There are also 6 flower beds that were provided by local volunteers, placed at the foot of the grove. We hope that this place of comfort will forever remain to be a site that connects children and the local community.
